Firelight Roasters brings you FAF Single Origin Brazilian

This coffee is from Fazenda Ambiental Fortaleza (FAF), which means "Environmental Fortress Farm”. The mission of FAF is to be a socially, environmentally and economically sustainable farm and to provide a model for sustainability in Brazil. When the current, fourth  generation farmer Silvia Baretto inherited the farm in 2001, she and her family decided to drastically alter the farm by making the entire farm organic with a focus on sustainable farming. This change reduced yields significantly, but eventually set the standard for sustainable farming in Brazil. Firelight got involved with FAF after an inspiring talk from Silvia’s son, Felipe, at a coffee expo in Atlanta. Since that time, we have worked closely with them every year to evaluate coffees and select lots to include in our blends and single origin menu. - Because FAF is a large farm, they do their own importing and exporting. This provides us the opportunity to cup/evaluate coffees as soon as they are harvested in Brazil, and then to rely on FAF for shipping to the US and all steps in between.

Firelight Coffee pre-financed this coffee, meaning they committed to the order before it was harvest, providing FAF with the capital they needed when they needed it most - during harvest. The all-in cost to Firelight for the current lot of coffee is $3.27/lb which was paid directly to FAF.
